Carlos Santana clarifies his ‘Beyoncé is not a singer’ comment after getting trolled by Beyhive

These days, people can’t complement one person without slamming or bringing down another. Is it so hard to just really give a complements?

Anyways, they Beyhive was in full effect yesterday after a comment made by Carlos Santana regarding Beyoncé‘s singing abilities surfaced.

In an interview with the Australian Associated Press, the Mexican-American musician was asked to comment on Bey’s loss to Adele for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday. “With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modeling kind of music ― music to model a dress ― she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her,” Santana said.

“Adele can sing, sing. She doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins.”

Of course, this didn’t sit well with many, especially Beyoncé’s fans who immediately turned to social media to throw shade at the 69-year-old guitarist. “Prince was a REAL guitar player and Carlos Santana makes margaritas,” one member of the Beyhive tweeted.

“Beyoncé out sang and outperformed Carlos Santana at the superbowl pregame years ago so he can keep his comments,” another said.

Following the backlash, Santana released a statement via his Facebook page to clarify the quote, which he says was taken completely out of context.

“I would like to clarify a comment that was reported when I was doing an interview for some upcoming shows in Australia & New Zealand,” he began.
